Masterfully hand-crafted by certified Artisan of Kumano, Japan, Houkodou has been providing top of the line brushes since 1901. Today, Kolinsky's are rare and for that reason, highly prized. PURE means that the hair portion of this brush is one type of first cut animal hair and not mixed or blended with other animal hair. FIRST CUT means that every strand of hair has a natural tip which makes a big difference when the hair touches ones face versus one that has been trimmed or cut at the tip.
